The former NSW Nationals gaming and racing minister George Souris has been appointed to the board of Destination NSW by the Berejiklian government, and Cricket NSW chairman John Warn has been chosen to chair the tourism organisation. The appointments by state cabinet will mean Mr Souris, a friend of Ms Berejiklian’s political mentor Barry O’Farrell, now has two government sanctioned board appointments, having been appointed to Racing NSW. Mr Souris earns $63,000 a year from Racing NSW, on top of his parliamentary yearly pension of $150,000. He will earn $30,000 a year from the Destination NSW position. Mr Warn replaces former News Corp Australia chief executive John Hartigan, who retired.
