The family of a poker player who took his life at The Star Casino’s hotel in Sydney is calling for an inquest into his death. Aneesh Augustine was found in a hotel room of The Star on December 28 and died on the way to hospital. Following his death, his family discovered the IT consultant had been a regular on the competitive poker playing circuit and had played at The Star. Family and friends have also confided he had been excluded from the casino because he was losing too much money. They are demanding answers about events leading up to his death, concerned about revelations of large personal debts and mysterious behaviour. The Indian national was a permanent resident who worked in Sydney and lived with friends. His cousin Sebastian Antony said the unexpected death had rocked the tight-knit family at home in India.
